Books & Things I Love

Below are some favorite books and products that have helped in my journey to find peace & happiness in life.

Gabby’s book The Universe Has Your Back helps us understand that the Universe can guide us to a life of joy, peace and flow.  Whether it’s from intuition, synchronicities or through meditation the Universe will lead the way meant for us.

This book  Eckhart Tollee’s “A New Earth” really helped me understand the power of the ego and how that is not my True Self.  Along with Oprah’s Super Soul Podcast which she interviews Eckhart chapter by chapter this is a valuable and important book.  That said, I don’t really like the description of his book on this website so please don’t let that influence your decision to buy it or not.

“Quiet, The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talkingis a great book that helped me understand what being an introvert meant and the wide range of characteristics.  Did you know Amy Poehler is an introvert?!? Google her August 19, 2016 interview with People magazine.

How Enlightenment Changes Your Brain: The New Science of Transformation   How Enlightenment Changes Your Brain  Dr. Andrew Newberg, a neurologist, surveyed more than 2,000 people who have experienced enlightenment and how it affected their brains and lives.  Fascinating reading with “practical strategies to activate those circuits in our own brains.”

Cyndi’s Memoir, May I Be Happy shows us even yoga teachers can struggle with self-image and how to appreciate our bodies no matter what our age.

The Book of Awakening: Having the Life You Want by Being Present to the Life You Have (Gift Edition) by [Nepo, Mark]  The Book of Awakening is a must have! 365 days of inspiration to help you heal and appreciate what really matters in this world. Beautiful short stories, meaningful quotes and to top it off, a breathing exercise, meditation or other surprise for each day.

Rebel Buddha was revolutionary for me! A fresh approach on Buddhism for contemporary life.  I loved it!

In Buddhist Boot Camp byTimber Hawkeye offers short chapters about Buddhism I felt were relatable and very inspirational!!

When I found, The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin, on a friend’s bookshelf, it was exactly what I needed during a dark time!  A month by month guide to finding happiness and appreciating what’s good in our lives.

Any couple can benefit from reading The 5 Love Languages; The Secret to Love That Lasts to find out what their love language is. The free quiz on the Research page helps discover which is most important to you: “Acts of Service”, “Quality Time”, “Physical Touch”, “Words of Affirmation”, or “Receiving Gifts”?  A definite eye opener to understanding your partner and visa versa!!

I highlighted the heck out of this book! Down to earth and wise Buddhist teachings.

Hate the title, love the book.  It’s about as straightforward as you can get to help figure out if you should stay in or leave a marriage.

An important book about the cycles of marriage almost every couple goes through. Starting with “The Merge”, “Doubt & Denial”, “Disillusionment”, “Decision” and finally “Wholehearted Loving”.

Everything you want to know about the Enneagram. Take the test on the Resource page to find out which of nine personality types you are.

Many couples have found this book extremely helpful after an affair is brought to light in a marriage. My biggest issue is she calls the other woman/man the “lover.”  I didn’t like that.

A great read about how a marriage survived infidelity. I’m thinking of getting a tattoo of the heart on the cover!

A gentle and realistic guide to forgiveness from a Buddhist perspective.

This is a little book with a powerful and easy message: Be Impeccable with your word; Don’t take anything personally; Don’t make assumptions; Do your best.

This book is visually beautifully, written simply with easy to understand language on everything Chakra.

Rabbi Rami Shapiro shares his wisdom and shows us how loving kindness can be practiced whatever your religious belief.

I recently bought this Manduka Pro Lite Indulge yoga mat after checking our several others and am very happy with my purchase.  Manduka makes a quality mat that has a lifetime guarantee, is lightweight and with emissions-free manufacturing is mindful of the earth .

I can’t live without my Manduka Go/Move yoga mat sling.  Carrying my mat to yoga class is easy and hands free!

I’ve used this meditation cushion by Brentwood Home for a while now and love it! It’s pretty & well constructed.
